California Pistachio Growers Survey

Surveys were distributed to 300 California pistachio growers, and 110 growers responded (36.7%). The information, summarized here in a series of charts, presents grower practices and concerns with respect to tree nutrition, fertilization, tissue sampling, use of UC critical values, irrigation practice, including fertigation, and future practices.

What proportion of nitrogen fertilizer is applied during specific months in your pistachio orchard? What proportion of potassium fertilizer is applied by specific methods in your pistachio orchard? How often do you use foliar fertilizers to apply specific nutrients? Do you apply nutrients using fertigation? What proportion of specific nutrients are applied by fertigation, of growers with the capacity to fertigate on any of their orchard? How often do you consider environmental consequences when making fertilizer decisions?
